Aren’t you glad it’s over; the election I’m talking about?
There were those never-ending political commercials, with deceptive ads bashing candidates with half-truths and just outright lies. Then there were those endless phone solicitors and mail flyers.
The election is over, but has the ruckus stopped? There are still continuous accusations, finger-pointing, and blaming on both sides. The anger has spread not only in politics but into our homes.
Isn’t it time to stop, but how?
The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
That’s what God did that first Christmas. There was enmity between God and man, but instead of holding a grudge or condemning men for their sins, He reached out and sent His son to pay the penalty for our sins; providing the opportunity for fellowship and redemption.
This Christmas season, it’s time to refocus. Let’s quit bashing and start encouraging each other, putting our enmity aside, Just as God reached out to us, we need to reach out to one another.
